Dry Solids Capacity
The solids-throughput rating of a screw press
Dry solids capacity is the maximum mass of dry solids a screw press can dewater per hour while meeting target cake solids and capture rate. It is the primary rating used to select a model.
Why solids capacity governs selection
For most municipal and industrial sludge the solids throughput, not the hydraulic flow, sets the machine size. The rated dry solids capacity already assumes good conditioning and a realistic feed concentration, so the design DS load is compared directly against it. Selecting a model whose rated capacity comfortably exceeds the design load protects cake quality when conditions vary.
