Screw Flight
The helical blade that conveys and compresses the sludge
The Helical Conveyor
The screw flight is the continuous helical blade welded to the shaft. Its geometry — pitch, height, and profile — determines how sludge is transported and how much compression is applied along the machine.
A wider pitch at the inlet allows rapid intake and gravity drainage, while the reducing pitch toward the outlet increases residence time and pressure, driving out bound water for a drier cake.
Design Factors
- Variable pitch controls the compression profile
- Wear-resistant edges for abrasive sludge streams
- Precision welding maintains a consistent filtration gap
