Components
Filtration Screen
The filtration surface that separates water from solids
How the Screen Works
In a multi-disc screw press the screen is not a woven cloth but a stack of alternating fixed and moving rings. The narrow gaps between rings act as the filtration openings, allowing filtrate to pass while retaining solids.
Because the moving rings continuously shift relative to the fixed rings, the gaps are self-cleaning — eliminating the blinding that affects filter cloth in belt and plate presses.
Advantages
- No filter cloth to blind, replace, or wash intensively
- Self-cleaning gaps handle oily and greasy sludge
- Gap size selected to match sludge particle characteristics
