Components
Back-Pressure Cone
Cone-shaped restrictor that builds discharge pressure
Cone-Based Pressure Control
Some screw press designs use a movable cone rather than a flat plate to control back-pressure. The cone is pressed axially against the sludge exiting the screw, forming an adjustable annular discharge gap.
As with the back-pressure plate, increasing the cone force raises internal pressure and cake dryness. The cone geometry can provide very even pressure distribution across the cake cross-section.
Characteristics
- Even pressure distribution across the cake
- Axially adjustable discharge gap
- Suited to specific sludge and capacity profiles
