Sludge Flow Rate
The volumetric feed to the dewatering system
Sludge flow rate (m³/h) is the volume of sludge fed to the press per hour. It drives the hydraulic loading and, together with concentration, determines the solids load.
Flow, hydraulics and stability
The hydraulic loading a machine can accept is limited by its screen area and drainage rate. Feeding beyond the hydraulic limit floods the screen, so water leaves with the solids and capture drops. Beyond the raw number, steadiness matters: a constant flow lets polymer and screw speed stay at their optimum, while a surging flow forces constant correction and inconsistent cake.
Good flow practice
- Use a low-pulsation feed pump.
- Buffer fluctuating sources before the press.
- Measure flow to pace polymer dosing.
