Operation & Maintenance

Screw Press Cleaning

Keeping the screen open with routine and deep cleaning

The screw press cleans its screen automatically during operation, but scheduled wash cycles and periodic deep cleaning are still needed to prevent gradual blinding and maintain drainage capacity.

Three levels of cleaning

Continuous self-cleaning

The moving rings slide against the fixed rings, keeping the gaps clear during operation.

Scheduled wash cycles

Timed spray-bar cycles flush accumulated fines from the screen at set intervals.

Periodic deep cleaning

Manual or extended cleaning to remove grease, scale or hardened deposits.

When deep cleaning is needed

If cake solids fall, filtrate turns cloudy or wash-water demand rises despite normal set points, the screen is likely partially blinded by fine, greasy or scaling solids that routine wash cycles cannot remove. A deep clean — sometimes with a mild cleaning agent suited to the deposit — restores the open area. Match the cleaning agent to the deposit type: acids for mineral scale, alkaline or degreasing agents for oily sludge.
