Solids Loading
The engineering basis for machine capacity
Solids Loading Explained
Solids loading — the dry solids mass per hour (kg DS/h) — is the fundamental engineering quantity for dewatering. It is calculated from sludge flow and concentration:
Solids Loading = Flow (m³/h) × Feed DS (%) × 10
Machine capacity, polymer demand, and filtrate volume all scale with solids loading, making it the anchor of the entire design.
Why It Matters
- Directly determines the required RF model
- Sets polymer and filtrate handling capacity
- Basis for operating cost estimates
