Sludge Dewatering Design
Engineering the complete dewatering system
System-Level Design
A screw press never operates in isolation. Successful dewatering design treats the whole chain as one system: sludge storage and feed, polymer make-up and dosing, flocculation, the press itself, filtrate return, and cake handling.
Each element must be sized consistently. An under-sized polymer system or an unreliable feed pump will limit the performance of even a perfectly selected press.
System Elements
- 1Sludge storage & feed
Buffer tank, mixing, and progressive cavity feed pump
- 2Polymer conditioning
Make-up, maturation, and proportional dosing
- 3Flocculation & dewatering
Reaction tank and the screw press
- 4Filtrate & cake handling
Filtrate return and cake conveying/storage
