Screw Press vs. Cylindrical Screen Press
Ring-disc self-cleaning vs. fixed cylindrical screens
Overview
A cylindrical screen press dewaters sludge inside a fixed perforated or wedge-wire cylinder. It is mechanically simple but relies on wash water to keep the fixed screen open, and can blind on greasy or fibrous material. A multi-disc screw press instead uses moving rings that self-clean the gap, reducing wash water and clogging while handling more difficult sludge types.
