Screw Press Operating Cost

Why screw presses have exceptionally low running cost

Operating Cost Drivers

Operating cost (OPEX) accumulates every hour the machine runs. Screw presses are known for very low OPEX: they draw little power (often below a few kW), run unattended, use minimal wash water, and have few wear parts. Polymer is usually the largest single running cost, followed by disposal, which is driven by cake dryness.

Typical OPEX Elements

ElementScrew Press Characteristic
EnergyVery low — often < 5 kW
PolymerOptimised by flocculation design
Wash waterIntermittent, minimal
LabourMinimal — unattended operation
MaintenanceLow — few wear parts
DisposalReduced by drier cake
