DAF float defeats many dewatering technologies: it is light, greasy and full of air. A screw press is uniquely suited because it runs slowly, seals in odour and air, and self-cleans continuously so grease cannot blind the screen.
Compared with a belt press it needs no wash-water spray battery, and compared with a centrifuge it uses a fraction of the energy — decisive advantages when dewatering the fatty DAF float typical of food and industrial plants.
