Dewatering DAF Sludge
How to dewater dissolved air flotation (DAF) float sludge
Turning DAF Float into Cake
Dissolved air flotation produces a float sludge that is aerated, light and often greasy — awkward for gravity thickeners and belt presses. A screw press dewaters DAF float continuously: the enclosed body handles the entrained air and grease without blinding, and back-pressure control builds a firm cake.
Because DAF float is often thin, a screw thickener stage or integrated thickening zone lifts the feed solids before the pressing zone, maximising cake dryness and capture.
Keys to Dewatering DAF Sludge
- Handle entrained air with an enclosed press body
- Pre-thicken thin float before the pressing zone
- Condition grease-rich float with tuned polymer
- Self-cleaning gaps resist grease blinding
