Screw press dewatering of soft-drink and juice plant wastewater sludge
Dewatering Beverage Sludge
Soft-drink, juice and bottling plants discharge sugar-rich effluent that is treated biologically and by dissolved air flotation. The resulting light, fluffy sludge dewaters well in a screw press once conditioned, giving a stackable cake for composting or disposal.
Because flow varies with production seasons, the press throttles down automatically at low load, avoiding the minimum-load problems of belt and centrifuge equipment.
